San Anselmo is a quaint and comfortable town roughly 20 miles north of San Francisco. If you're looking to escape the bustle of the big city, then this is a town to explore and potentially call home. One of the beautiful aspects of the town is the stunning architecture dotted throughout. San Anselmo is Spanish for “Saint Anselm” and the Spanish influence can really be felt throughout the area. Although the area was once pastoral, as development slowly began to grow in the area in the late 1800s, so too did the town. The North Pacific Coast Railroad, which has a spur track from San Anselmo to San Rafael, played a major role in energizing the area. Despite its past development, you still get a sense of nature through the beautiful greenery and stunning hill range of Ross Valley. 

 

San Anselmo is a wonderful destination for those looking for a slower pace of life. Beautiful architecture, calming nature, and quaint shops throughout the downtown are all elements that make up this charming area. Year-round residents look forward to some of the best weather as the average high temperature hovers around 85 degrees.

San Anselmo is served by the Ross Valley School District along with several private schools including San Domenico school and Catholic St. Anselm school.
