West Marin

Welcome to West Marin

A peaceful, woodsy, and down-to-earth town with endless art and outdoor opportunities.

West Marin is a haven for anyone who enjoys peace in the outdoors. Abundant in forests, beaches, and wildlife, any time spent here is cleansing. Residents appreciate the tranquil pace of life in West Marin and likewise appreciate the short commute to San Francisco should any cravings for a city day come around. Since the 1970s, preserving the surrounding nature has been of top priority to the local government in West Marin and the surrounding area. Much of the resident’s day-to-day life is structured around the shared desire to enjoy beautiful weather, gorgeous views, and time in the fresh air.

West Marin is perfect for those who enjoy seafood, but they do have something for everyone. Dillon Beach Coastal Kitchen and Saltwater Oyster Depot are reflective of West Marin’s commitment to fresh and seasonal eating. For something a little more casual, Cafe Reyes offers tasty brick-oven pizzas. In Stinson Beach, grab a bite at Parkside Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A favorite spot, though, is Cowgirl Cantina, the home of Marin’s own creamery.

As one of the nation’s largest swaths of untouched wilderness, it’s no surprise that West Marin residents love their outside time. This enticing stretch of Marin County offers trails for both hiking and biking so that you can soak up every moment of the fantastic Northern California weather. Roy's Redwoods Preserve is a sweeping park and beautiful testament to California’s towering redwoods and lush meadows. You’ll love getting lost amongst the forest, finding it a tranquil respite from the busy lifestyles led in the city. Those who love the water will enjoy Point Reyes National Seashore. With approximately eighty miles of beaches, this national seashore has beautiful views and hiking and is home to elk, seals, and even whales!

West Marin also has great opportunities for those who seek cultural engagement. The San Geronimo Valley Community Center focuses on bringing arts, culture, education, and health programming to the Marin community. And for those seeking a spiritual family, Spirit Rock Meditation Center is a great option with its meditation retreats and teachings.

West Marin’s robust natural amenities, charming laid-back atmosphere, and close-knit environment make this a highly sought-after community.
